Take it to the streets
The air on you back, gliding through the streets flying is the closest thing I could think of. Longboarding one of my most favorite things in the world! with you Friends at your side. You feel like you could take on the world. not very many words describe how much joy this brings. but a picture is worth 1000 words right?
Last summer my best friend and I drove across country to our final destination Columbus ohio. In every major city from here to there we stopped and took it to the streets. Found empty parking lots and neighbor hood streets and rode to our little hearts content.

The freedom that you feel while cruising is, well, FREEING!
Road Closed.

Movies That Make me Want to Make Movies, 2:
Sunshine
another movie that makes me want to make movies. Besides the amazing soundtrack and the awesome cinematography, the emotion Sunshine derives in me makes me want to share it with everyone! Recently I purchesed the screenplay to this film and read along while watching it. Anybody intreseted in any aspect of film shoud try an exercise like this. It really helps envision how film is trasnfered from words to images. How the director envisioned it. How the DP came up with the angel, With the lighting. How everyone on board got the same image. Doing this exercise hleped me in ways I can not put into words. This filmed chaned how I think about and make movies.

This Is Where I Live?
Driving back from a film shoot in Heber my drive took me through the beautiful Provo Canyon. Now I have been through this canyon countless times seems how I live twenty minutes away but this time was a tad different. It had just snowed the day before a light blue and white blanket covered the entire Canyon from peak to peak. Forest green trees with a frosted layer of powder. I thought to my self this is where I live? I cant believe I don't take this in everyday, I take it for granted how beautiful my home is.

What Are Friends for?
"What Are Friends For?" My most recent shoot about a geeky high school boy asking the girl of his dream out to his high school prom. things get a little out of control when he suspects his best friend of asking the same girl. Written by Sharlee Stokes and Directed by Yours Truly.
Throughout shooting this film I Found a few things that I need to work on. I Found that I'm really quick to give correction and direction, even after an actor has given a great performance. I realized that I need to really work on telling what I really liked about the Perfomance. Let the actor know just how well they did. Then build from there. I am usually the kind of guy that if I don't give any correction or feedback that is a good thing, and you have given me the performance I was looking for. I need to verbalize that. The other thing I found that I need to work on is don't underestimate the actors abilities. They can and will rise to the direction I ask of them.
We shot this film on location in the beautiful Heber valley. Two days worth of shooting with a great crew and even better talent. The first day of shooting I had this epiphany that this is really what I do want to do for the rest of my life. Tell stories through film. One thing I really enjoy about film is I get to create a world. The world the camera sees. All the audience sees is the world I have created, and hopefully its a world worth watching.
Shooting this film hleped me learn alot about myself and the way I make a film, the way I tell a story. I am not one for high school drama, who asked who, who said what sort a films. Making this film helped me see that no matter the story you can always relate. So my Job as a director is to help you find your relation. For me it was the character Charlie. A timid Star Wars loving Geek. essentially me. I feel the actor (James Goodman) that portrayed him got it right on. Finding the right facial expressions was key for this roll and he got them.
